Polis Malaya melarang Bendera Negara Sabah lama dikibarkan

Tun Fuad Stephens: The Sabahan

Still known to many in Sabah as Donald, Tun Fuad Stephens’ entire life appears to have been marked by events that, grain by grain, turned him into a human lighthouse. This documentary tells not only his story but that of the formation of Malaysia and the monumental role Tun Fuad played in bringing Sabah into the Federation of Malaya.

It also tells the story of the Kadazan society and how Tun Fuad has managed to inspire them to be the best that they can be. Along the way, episodes of political ‘cloak and dagger’ intrigues show the indomitable spirit of the man, and the people of his time.

In TUN FUAD STEPHENS : THE SABAHAN, his life is exposed, in a manner that inspires and yet also helps modern day Sabahans, Malaysians, and all others, understand the truth concerning Sabah’s place in its own country and indeed the world. Tun Fuad Stephens has earned his place in history.

This is his story.

Sarawakians celebrate Independence day

KUCHING: A huge crowd have gathered at the Song Kheng Hai ground here to celebrate the day Sarawak gained independence from the British.

The rally was organised by the Sarawak Dayak Iban Association and Sarawak for Sarawakians movement.

Sarawak gained independence from the British colonial rule on July 22, 1963. It then joined Malaya, Sabah and Singapore on Sept 16 the same year to form Malaysia.

The event proceeded peacefully despite Bukit Aman's advice that it should not be held due to concerns it would be used to stir up secessionist sentiments.

Speaking to the crowd, some of whom came from as far as Sibu, Bintulu and Miri, organising chairman Peter John Jaban said the rally was not about calling for the Sarawak to leave Malaysia.

"We are here to celebrate the historic day when Sarawak gained independence," he said, calling for July 22 to be made a public holiday.

He thanked state and city police for allowing the rally to go ahead.

An official ceremony to commemorate July 22 is also being held by the state government at the State Legislative Assembly complex.

After 1965 - Is Malaysia Agreement 1963 Still Valid?

Ex Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee's point of view at UBF fuction.

The four constitutional documents and/or constitutional conventions -- the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63), the 20/18 Points (20/18 P), the Inter-Governmental Committee Report (IGCR) and the Cobbold Commission Report (CCR) -- envisaged Sabah and Sarawak as equal partners in Malaysia along with Malaya (now Peninsular Malaysia) and Singapore (until 1965).

These documents, read together with the Malaysian Constitution, involve the autonomy of Sabah and Sarawak and their rights in the federation as a two-tier set-up.

At another or second and lower level, Malaya or Peninsular Malaysia is a federation of the states in the Peninsula.
